Good News and Bad News

The good news is that Mike is going home! Seeing as how Mike isn’t hooked up to anything and takes his medication orally now, we can do that at home. I know he’s excited to get out of here. The doctor is working on writing prescriptions and orders for Mike to be discharged. I’m not sure exactly what time we’ll be leaving, but I suspect it will be within the next couple of hours.

We got the final pathology report from Duke. Mike’s tumor is a glioblastoma, grade IV. In layman’s terms: it’s really bad. It’s basically the most aggressive tumor out there. I talked with Duke today, and they’re actually booked for the next two weeks with consults, but they are going to work Mike in in the next week and a half. Depending on what they think once we get up there, they may start with chemotherapy then go to radiation, or they may just start with radiation. Once we have a definite date on when we’re going up there, I’ll let you know.

Hey Coach Starnes (well Lucas as I use to call you)
I have heard about what is going on and I continue to pray for your family every single day. You two have hearts of gold and I know God will give you the strength to pull through this. I think about your little ones day to day and what great parents they have. I miss you both dearly and I will continue to have you in every thought and breath I make. Keep us updated!!

Love you guys,

I just re-read all these again, and even though I wrote you one comment, something in my heart tells me to write you another one. I knew you loved that man from the moment you saw him. You tried to hide it from all the girls on the sqaud!!!! haa. You are such a good person and still have some kind of humor left....I looked up to you in HS and I look up to you now. I love Coach Starnes as well. After all, I did hook you up (wink). This is just a hill that you guys will get over. I know it. Once again, my family is thinking and praying for the quickest recovery for Coach Starnes. We love you dearly. And I can't wait to see you guys....

Things will get better,

Please let Mike know that I am praying for him.I am also praying for you and your family. He and I were roommates at USC my freshman year and I know that I would not have made it through my first year without his help, though he did get me in trouble some times(I am sure that he will know what I am speaking of). I received this blog link through Coach Ed Cerny and Bailey Harris. Mike will remember me as "Bacon" please tell him that I am praying for healing for him.

In Him,

Hey Mrs. Starnes(I called you Ms. Lucas too). I recently heard about what was going on with Coach Starnes. I will keep your family in my prayers. In HS I just remember all the jokes Brittney had about you two. I will continue to pray for the both of you and I will check back for updates.

Love ya

Hey Miss Lucas! Well, Mrs. Starnes, I guess I should call you now! I want you to know that I am praying for y'all every day, and wish y'all only the best. It's weird how only bad things happen to good people. I believe that everyone knows that to some degree. Please know that we are all here for y'all and the girls if y'all need anything. I'll even babysit if you need me to. We all love you both so much and will be glad to do anything we can to help.
Love Always,
Stephanie Cox

Mike and Family, I just wanted to say hi and that I am continuing to pray for you all everyday. Sounds like you are getting the best possible medical attention due to Diane's efforts. I'll continue to watch the blog for updates, and if I can get a moment of time, I'll try to come by and see ya.
